The move to EMV in the APAC region is really starting to gather momentum with countries like New Zealand in the process of migration and Australia set to switch over in the next 1-2 years. With this in mind STS have partnered with Australian-based consulting and solutions company, Smarta Technology.
Smarta has expertise in a wide range of key technologies, such as smartcards, mobile and internet and offer a range of services including consulting, systems integration, software development and project management. Under the partnership agreement, Smarta will distribute and support STS products in the APAC region.
The founder of Smarta Technology, Dr Alistair Campbell worked extensively with the STS product set during the UK rollout of EMV and sees the partnership as a natural alliance for Smarta. He commented, "The move over to EMV, together with other projects such as the proposed Australian Access Card, is generating a lot of interest in the possibilities offered by smart cards. As a company that is helping organisations to create new and innovative smart card based services it makes sense for us to work alongside STS as their solution makes it simple for companies to leverage their investment in EMV to create these types of services for their customers".
"We see the appointment of Smarta Technology as a natural evolution as EMV-related technology rolls out globally. Smarta Technology's previous experience with STS made them an ideal partner. The Asia Pacific market is a relatively untapped one for integrated solutions so we see a lot of upside in the market over the next few years" said STS VP, Business Development, Cameron Olsen.
